We have officially entered the edition number 100 of the Giro d’Italia: an appointment with sport, history and our territory. That’s why we want to live it with you!
We had already mentioned this in this article: the Pink Race starts from Sardinia this year, for the third time since 1991 and 2007, precisely from Alghero. Among the super favorites there is Quintana, but Nibali‘s performance is also awaited: as Domenico Pozzovivo repeated in a press conference, this is a complex, challenging and dead-end journey. Let’s not forget that in this edition there will be many initiatives to remember Scarponi, who tragically disappeared only a few days ago: he would face for the twelfth time this Race.
The Tour runs through Abruzzo
Even the birthplace of our brand, Abruzzo, will be explored by cyclists in the ninth stage of the Giro, one of the most complex.
On Sunday May 14, at 13, the champions will leave Montenero di Bisaccia.
- From here they will go along the coast, enjoying the unique spectacle of the trabocchi, up to Francavilla a.M.
- Then Chieti, with short climbs on high slopes, and then Manoppello and Lettomanoppello, on narrower streets with occasionally worn out bases.
- Arriving in Roccamorice the final climb of 13 km starts with arrival at Blockhaus: this last stretch has a slope that remains between 9 and 14% for the first 10 km, with bends, and closes with a straight, always uphill around 8%.
A complex stage, affected by a uncomfortable path and with important slopes, will bring cyclists to cross the entire Abruzzo landscape, from the thing to the high mountain.
Kyklos at the turn of the Giro
On the same day as the 9th stage will take place, we will also go to the Blockhaus with Kyklos. We are leaving from Pescara, to arrive in Roccamorice for lunch. We are going to have a parallel experience to the Tour, and we will see the big champions facing the final stage of this difficult goal.
We are ready to share with you this exciting stroll!
